Does a gem-forged weapon need to have a single solid-colored blade, or can other colors be used for accents?

Accents are fine.

To clarify slightly, yes, accents are fine, but the majority of the surface area has to be of the primary material's base color and be easily recognizable from a distance. runes or filigree, inlays, etc are fine but you only get the benefits of the base material. To craft such an intricate weapon, you would need to combine Gemforging with another craft skill, like Gemcrafting for example if you wanted jewels inset into the hilt or whatnot. Basically that increases the appraised value but not the practical use or strength of the actual weapon. Basically it's a way to combine craft skills for a higher appraised value to represent super fancy intricate pretty items, but it also increases your production and material cost.
